Projects worth millions, aimed at upgrading the quality of life of residents and facilitating cultural and social activities of the wider Municipality of Aradippou, are being implemented in the Municipal District of Troulla, the Mayor of Aradippou Christodoulos Partou told CNA.
A key component of the Municipality of Aradippou, he continued, “remains the substantial unification of the three Municipal Districts, with the aim of creating a strong, unified cultural and social core, which will promote the cohesion, identity and quality of life of our citizens, as well as the implementation of projects that will facilitate the residents of the area and help in the cultural and social activity of the Municipal Districts”.
He noted that “with the targeted and methodical actions of the existing municipal authority, our proposal for the redevelopment of Agios Mamantos Square in the Municipal District of Troulla, was submitted in the framework of the Rural Development Program 2014-202 and the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027.
This proposal has been selected in principle for co-financing by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development of the European Union,” he said.
As Mr. Partou said, “the redevelopment of Agios Mamas Square with an estimated total budget of 2,095,000 euros + VAT is a breath of fresh air that will give new life to the community and will substantially upgrade the daily life of the residents.
In addition, through the selection of sustainable materials, the increase of green spaces and the enhancement of resilience to climate challenges, the project serves the purposes of the European Union’s Climate Change Adaptation Mission.”
In his statements, Mayor Aradippou also referred to the “launch of two more important projects, which will contribute decisively to the improvement of the quality of life of the residents and the upgrading of the community’s infrastructure”.
The first project concerns “the construction of sidewalks that will connect the sacrifice site of the hero Andreas Sourouklis with the entrance of the Municipal District of Troulla, a project with an estimated budget of 250 thousand euros.
The implementation of this project is expected to enhance the safety of pedestrians and upgrade the aesthetics of the apartment,” he said.
The second project “concerns the approval and coverage of the cost by the Ministry of Education for the construction of a multi-purpose classroom at the Primary School of Troulla. This new infrastructure will serve both the educational needs of the students, as well as the cultural and social activities of the wider community.”
Both projects, he noted, “are part of a broader framework of strategic development and upgrading of public spaces and educational structures and are expected to have a substantial imprint on our local community.”
The Mayor of Aradippou also described “the approval of the licensing, as well as the coverage of part of the cost for the reconstruction of the Municipal Stadium of Troulla by the Cyprus Sports Organization, of particular importance.
The project, which is expected to cost about 450 thousand euros, is a significant investment in the sports infrastructure of the area and aims to enhance the physical activity and sports education of young people, but also to provide a modern sports area for the local community,” he noted.
At the same time, he also referred to the “implementation of the project for the revival of rural areas and the development of a cycling center and a network of dirt routes, which is part of the Sponsorship Plan of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. The project has recently been completed and is expected to transform Troulli into a unique destination for cycling and outdoor activities,” he said.
The main concern of the Municipality of Aradippou, added Mr. Partou, “continues to be the continuous support, in various multifaceted ways, of cultural creation, but also of our long-standing tradition.
Cultural heritage, folk tradition and customs and customs are the basic components of the history and the formation of the culture of every people,” he noted.
The enlarged Municipality of Aradippou, he concluded, “continues with responsibility, sensitivity and determination its steady course towards building a modern, sustainable and dynamic organization, harmonized with European and international standards”.
